How do personal trainers work?

Personal trainers help tailor workouts to your unique needs and goals. If you have an underlying health condition or risk, personal trainers can help you train safely. Working with a trainer can push your fitness level forward much more quickly than working out on your own.

Here are six reasons why hiring a skilled personal trainer is a great investment.

  1. Trainers provide accountability and motivation.

Do you want to face your trainer and tell her that you didn’t work out yesterday? Sure, you can get this accountability from a dedicated friend who works out with you, but this is the trainer’s job. He or she has a vested interest in seeing that you complete your workouts.

Also, if you’re paying a trainer, do you really want to slack off and feel like you aren’t getting the most for your money? Money spent is good motivation to work out.

  1. Trainers provide expertise

A good personal trainer will watch closely to ensure that you are doing the exercises properly to maximise your result and target the intended muscle group.

  1. A trainer will push you just enough

A trainer will push you harder than you will push yourself, but keep you from rushing ahead too quickly.

Expert trainers know alternative exercises if you have difficulty with one or if you have an injury to work around. Sometimes a modified version of an exercise is necessary, depending on your fitness level. A good trainer will expertly shape an exercise for you.

  1. A trainer helps you identify and achieve goals.

As I set goals, my trainer helps me to attain them. My trainer encourages me by noticing improvements that I wouldn’t even think about. This is helpful when discouragement tries to set in.

  1. A trainer will personalise your workout.

Quality trainers know how to customise a workout based on your individual strengths, weaknesses, and goals.

  1. Fitness trainers can reduce the possibility of injury.

An injury can derail a workout program and cause so much discouragement that you could lose momentum and determination to continue. A good trainer will help you to do exercises properly so that you won’t injure yourself.

How a Trainer Can Help

  • Suggesting activities that work for your body, schedule, and available equipment
  • Helping you figure out how hard to work during exercise and how to monitor your exercise intensity to help you reach your goals
  • Showing you how to choose exercises, weights, reps, and sets
  • Using different tools (such as a heart rate monitor or activity tracker) to enhance your workouts
  • Teaching you how to get the most out of your workout while also making sure you don’t overdo it

9 weight loss tips

Here are 9 more tips to help you lose weight:

  1. Eat a high protein breakfast. Eating a high protein breakfast could help reduce cravings and calorie intake throughout the day.
  2. Limit sugary drinks and fruit juice. Empty calories from sugar aren’t useful to your body and can hinder weight loss.
  3. Stay hydrated. Drink water throughout the day.
  4. Eat more fibre. Studies show that eating fibre may promote weight loss. Find fibre in whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds and these other high-fibre foods.
  5. Drink coffee or tea. Caffeine consumption may help boost your metabolism. Be mindful of going overboard on caffeine, though and be mindful of adding sugar to these drinks.
  6. Base your diet on whole foods. They tend to be nutrient rich, more filling, and less likely to cause overeating than processed foods.
  7. Eat slowly. Eating quickly can lead to weight gain over time, while eating slowly makes you feel more full and boosts weight-reducing hormones.

Get good quality sleep. Sleep is important for many reasons, and poor sleep is one of the biggest risk factors for weight gain
